Welcome to Matamata
Intermediate School. We feel that our school has a great deal to offer children
who are prepared to take advantage of the opportunities we provide while keeping
within the boundaries of acceptable behaviour. We make every endeavour to
provide a caring environment with a balanced curriculum of academic, sporting
and cultural learning. At this school a challenge exists for everyone
Our school focus
this year is three-fold:
-
To continue developing the CCC culture of our school based on the
virtues programme. Courtesy, Common Sense and Consideration.
-
To encourage every student to be the best that is within them.
-
To raise
student achievement levels in reading, writing and spelling.
OUR SCHOOL CULTURE:
We have
based the character of our school on the virtues of Courtesy, Common Sense and
Consideration, and that is why we are known as the three C’s school. The
Canterbury Clothing Company is thrilled to support our school and to subsidise
us with special CCC shirts displaying our school logo on them. Two shirts are
awarded each fortnight to students who consistently display the virtues.
Nominations are discussed by the staff and the boy and girl selected are issued
with their shirts during our formal assembly. These are then worn as part of
their uniform. At the end of each term one special student who has shown the
virtues in an outstanding manner is given a CCC tracksuit jacket to wear in
recognition of their achievement. Our virtues programme, within the classroom,
is going from strength to strength with new virtues added each term.
Please encourage
your child to practise these virtues at home as we believe they build character
for a lifetime.
TOGETHER
I dreamed I
stood in a studio, and watched two sculptors there
The clay
they used was a young child’s mind and they fashioned it with care.
One was a
teacher, the tools she used were books and music and art;
One was a
parent with a guiding hand and a gentle, loving heart.
Day after day the teacher toiled with a
touch that was deft and sure,
While the parent laboured by her side and
polished and smoothed it o’er.
And when at last their
task was done they were proud of what they had wrought
For the things they
moulded into the child could be neither sold nor bought.
And each agreed that
they would have failed if they had worked alone,
For behind the parent
stood the school and behind the teacher, the home.
We look forward to your association with our school and
ask you to become involved with your child’s learning. Please come and visit our
school. You are always welcome.
