We have found that at this school successful students:
I dreamed I stood in a studio And watched two sculptors there. The clay they used was a young child's mind and they fashioned it with care.
One was a teacher, the tools used Were books and music and art; One was a parent with a guiding hand And a gentle, loving heart.
Day after day the teacher toiled With a touch that was deft and sure, While the parent laboured by her side And polished and smoothed it o'er.
And when at last their task was done They were proud of what they had wrought; For the things they moulded into a child Could be neither sold nor bought.
And each agreed that they would have failed If they had worked alone, For behind the parent stood the school And behind the teacher, the home.
If a child lives with criticism, He learns to condemn. If a child lives with hostility, He learns to fight. If a child lives with ridicule, He learns to be shy. If a child lives with shame, He learns to feel guilty. If a child lives with tolerance, He learns to be patient. If a child lives with encouragement, He learns confidence. If a child lives with praise, He learns to appreciate. If a child lives with fairness, He learns justice. If a child lives with security, He learns to have faith. If a child lives with approval, He learns to like himself. If a child lives with acceptance and Friendship, He learns to find love in the world.
