Specialist

A point of difference and a change from primary school that students will experience is being able to attend specialist lessons in Technology and The Arts. Specialist teachers provide engaging and rich experiences in purpose built environments.

Students will receive approximately 13 lessons in each of the specialist subjects, and during their time at intermediate can expect to attend one of many enrichment opportunities across the subject areas.

Technology, Science and The Arts

 
Materials/Electronics Technology - Food Technology
The design process is a key feature across all of the technology disciplines. Students are able to produce individual and group solutions to problems and develop a high level of practical skills.

Music
In the Music programme all students will be exposed to a range of instruments and will work together to create their own music. New students are also welcomed & encouraged to join our very successful concert band. Previous musical experience is not a prerequisite. Instrumental tuition is available for students at a small cost per term. A meeting for interested parents and students will be held early in the year to assist students to choose an instrument, which can be hired, or hired to buy.

Science
Practical and hands on relevant lessons, collaborative learning and the use of our specialist Science eqiupment to inspire learning.

Visual Art
Students will experiment with a variety of media, including pencil, pastel, water colour and ink, and will learn a range of techniques to develop their skills in this curriculum area.

Performing Arts
We will continue to offer a number of creative performance opportunities and all students will have learning experiences & performing opportunities in dance and drama.
